• Fourth Amendment Of The United States Constitution

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." The recent capitualtion of the United States House of Representaives to the Bush Administrations demands for TELECOM IMMUNITY in anticipation of the United States Senate following suit shall not stand. Congress is empowered to pass laws. If they pass a bad law it needs to be repealed. This is bad law and this site seeks to have this law repealed. Suggestion Box (Brainstorming Session)

This site is supposed to be our site. If you are reading this i am talking to you!

This is a place where we will discuss strategies and tactics to achieve our collective goals to reinstitute the rule of law in our country. If we sit back and wait for the politicians to do it it will never happen. Why? Because they can’t and they won’t do it without us. There are too many powerfull groups fighting them all the way and they know it. They can’t even get started until they have our strong support to do so. We all have an uphill battle and the sooner we get started the sooner we can start things moving in the right direction.

So my question to you is this: What can we do to get this ball rolling? What do we need to do to make this effort a success?

There are no wrong answers at this point. All suggestions no matter how outlandish or conservative should be posted here for all to consider. Please do not criticize other people’s suggestions. We can analyze options at another time. For now just have at it!

  1. Draft a brief mission statement inviting any service provider to sign on. maybe post in the margin.

  2. You guys can give a corporation a lot of grief with a little effort.

  5. Frame this argument for us. We need new terms for the good guys and bad guys. We need people on the street, in the bars and around the dinner tables to be able to talk about FISA and policy that was bought and sold with telecom money without a 15 minute expository paragraph. We need words like the following, but better researched and not as off the cuff–“anti-constitutionalist, telepolitician, AT&Travesty, bought and sold man, spy rep, man of his constituency.” Now, this is an early post to a new blog, so I feel obligated to admit that none of the above are home runs. A progressive think tank I ain’t. We need language to let this debate take place amongst people who haven’t done all the reading and investigation that we have.

  6. To use a baseball term, this new site is the first inning on opening day of a long season. We all know it’s an uphill fight-I see where McCain is already using the old and still shameless ‘politics of fear smear’ against Obama.I will support this site and the fight to return government to the rule of laws that protect US from extremism. Good luck and good hunting,X!

  7. I appologize for the delay posting your comments, Charles. There is a spam filter on this i need to get the hang of yet. It wants to block links. I will work on it.

  8. I think what we need to get out there is the fact that Rights, once lost, are seldom regained without much attention and work.

The idea that things will get fixed once the Party changes, if indeed it does, is mostly just dreaming. A full on letter writing and calling assault on both Houses of Congress needs to take place.

Maybe we could post a list of Representative with phone numbers, FAX and Email address’ would help motivate action.

  9. There is a Link for that in Smitty’s Post but we can try to put together a complete list and post it.

By the way Bob, you are a Poster now. If you log out and log back in you can click into this page and start posting.

  10. I agree with Guido. Since we have embraced the baseball theme, a well played short game is critical to winning habitually.

June 30th is the end of the second quarter reporting period. When your rep calls (and he or she will), inform them you are not happy with their vote.

The Fourth of July is the next big holiday. I don’t know about your reps, but mine send out an event schedule. This is the perfect setting to question their vote. (Politely, folks circle the wagon if they think their rep is being abused.)

    Save the Constitution!

  11. Several t-comm businesses refused to comply with Bush admin demands. Has anybody researched and compiled their statements on this issue? We should be actively promoting these companies and their thoughts on the issue.

Such activities can do a few things: it helps to re-frame the issue in terms of corporate greed and government cronyism. And, in the absence of success repealing the law, it can help, hopefully, move consumers toward the companies that seem to display a more American approach to business.

  12. As Glenn Greenwald has pointed out, Democrats will continue to sell us out as long as there’s no price for them to pay for doing it. There is currently a campaign that is specifically targeting Democrats who insist on going along with the Republicans in dismantling our Constitution. Donations are being accepted to help in this effort.

Barack Obama’s capitulation on FISA has made it crystal clear that left to themselves, no politician, Democrats included, will protect our rights if we don’t insist on it.

  13. First, it’s important to be clear in what you’re going after. Is it just getting rid of the telecom immunity provisions of the most recent bill? Or are you really calling for the complete repeal of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978, as amended? There’s a world of difference between the two.

  14. Ok, let’s be clear. The intent is to repeal FISA and all laws that violate the United States Constitution and pardon or make immune from prosecution anyone or any entity that has broken the law or violated the Constitution. If we need to get laws passed that do not violate the law or the United States Constitution to replace these laws then so be it.

  15. I think we need to consider making and selling REPEAL FISA! bumper stickers. We can either sell them at cost or use the money toward an advertising campaign or an event that publicises what we are doing.

  16. IF you have a blog please post a link to this site. If you have a blog and you become a poster a link to your site will be posted here.

  17. You’re in my blogroll.

  18. And your site is here in our site.🙂

  19. I’m as pissed off as everyone else on this site. I’ll throw out some suggestions. However time is not on our side so whatever is decided must be done fast.
    1. Informing the public and mobilizing them is a must. A method of how to accomplish that via newspaper ad, blogs, telephone call , e-mails etc.
    2. Mass demonstrations in one place have so far been ineffictive since the government will overwhelm the group with police and reinforcements. Also with the price of gas it would be very expensive for the majority and the media would not report it. I beleive a nationwide strike would be more effective since the police can’t be everywhere at the same time.
3 If all main areteries in the country were bliocked with cars and trucks especially eighteen wheelers it would bring the country to a halt and hurt them where it hurts. In the pocketbook. Business would surely suffer and would get their attention fast.

This is just for starters if anyone else have better ideas let’s hear them.
